The Famous Tree Climber

One day in the village of Jericho a crowd of people gathered to see Jesus. Zacchaeus, a very rich man, had heard many good reports about Jesus and longed to hear and see Him.
Zacchaeus, being a short man ,had trouble seeing over people. Therefore, when he spotted a sycamore tree he quickly climbed it so he could see Jesus as He passed by along the road.
When Jesus came to the tree He looked up and said:
"Zacchaeus, you come down out of that tree for I am going to your house today!"
Zaccheus was very surprised that Jesus called him by name. "How did He know my name and why should He want to come to my house?" thought Zaccheus for he knew that Jesus was very SPECIAL.
The ones near by heard the rustle of leaves as Zacchaeus quickly came down out of the tree.
Happily, Zacchaeus took Jesus home with him . He learned a lot about God's love as Jesus talked to him. Zacchaeus told Jesus that he was sorry for his wrongdoings (sins) and asked Jesus to forgive him. Zacchaeus, a tax collector, also promised he would make things right with the ones whom he had cheated.
Jesus was happy for the words of Zacchaeus and said to Him.
"Today salvation has come to your house for the
Son of Man is come to seek and save that which was lost."
Joy and peace, along with the promise of eternal life in heaven, entered into his life that day because he repented of his sins and accepted Jesus as his Saviour.
